My Passion

I am a dedicated social worker driven by a deep passion for helping individuals and families navigate life’s challenges.  With over a decade of experience in the field of social work, I have a long-standing commitment to supporting my clients on their paths to healing and empowerment.  My journey into social work began early, inspired by a desire to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives, especially those facing complex social and emotional struggles.  Prior to going back to school in my mid-20s, I worked in the labor industry from general maintenance in the automotive field to running wire as a subcontracting “cable guy”.

Throughout my social work career, I have worked in a variety of settings including the family court system, hospitals, and group outpatient practice, always striving to provide compassionate, evidence-based support.  I believe that everyone desrves to be heard, respected, and guided in finding their inner resilience and strength.  Known for my empathic approach, I create a safe, non-judgmental space for clients to explore their challenges and build coping skills.

Beyond direct practice, I am committed to advocacy, working to address systemic issues that impact mental health and well-being.  I remain actively engaged in ongoing professional development, ensuring I stay current with best practices and emerging research to serve my clients most effectively.

I am grateful to be part of a profession dedicated to positive change and I am honored to walk alongside my clients as they navigate their unique journeys.  It’s your tour; I am just a helpful guide!

My Goals

My commitment to the field is fueled by a deep compassion for others and a strong desire to make a positive impact on mental health.  I believe in the power of empathy, active listening, and human connection as foundations for meaningful change.  With a background in both medical and mental health in the inpatient and outpatient settings, I have experience working with diverse populations, including those facing trauma, anxiety, and life transitions.  My personal and professional goal is to sincerely continue growing my knowledge and experience.

I am incredibly fortunate to have such a unique opportunity to help people struggling with emotional distress.  I learn from each and every client interaction.  I love helping others; and my ultimate goal is to continue expanding the knowledge that allows me to continually help others more effectively and efficiently as possible.

My Specialty

My specialty as a psychotherapist is helping adults who have endured parental abuse and maltreatment during childhood.  I focus particularly on working with men who experienced this abuse from their mothers – a dynamic that is often overlooked but deeply impactful.  I provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can untangle the complex emotions tied to their experiences, address patterns that may still affect their relationship and self-worth and develop healthier ways of understanding and relating to themselves and others.  My approach is grounded in compassion, tailored interventions, and evidence-based techniques, allowing my clients to reclaim their sense of identity, build resilience, and move toward lasting healing.

I want to acknowledge how profoundly isolating and painful it can feel to have experienced abuse from your mother – the very person that society often assumes should be the ultimate source of love and safety.  For men, this pain can be even harder to voice because of cultural pressures to “stay strong” or avoid vulnerability, especially when it comes to relationships with parents.  Talking about this kind of abuse can feel confusing, even disloyal.  We commonly rationalize this type of abuse; normalizing it so we don’t villainize the sensitive context of the perpetrator, a parent… You might wrestle with feelings of shame, guilt, or fear that others won’t understand – or worse, will dismiss or downplay your experience.  But your pain is valid, and your story matters.

It’s okay to take your time to find the words and space to process what happened.  Healing starts with acknowledging that you deserved better, and it’s possible to move forward, even from something as complicated and heartbreaking as this.  You’re not alone in this journey.  The first, and most difficult step, is making the call for help.  It’s intimidating.  It’s uncomfortable.  It’s confidential; call me and we can discuss, together, if I can help.
